These projects were created during a workshop with Frederic Kaplan, researcher at the Sony Computer Science Laboratory Paris and Martino d'Esposito, industrial designer, at ECAL (Ecole
cantonale d'Art de Lausanne) in november 2005. 30 students had to
imagine objects and furnitures to create new learning opportunities for
the robot. These objects have been used as part of a scientific
programme on artificial curiosity conducted by Pierre-Yves Oudeyer and Frederic Kaplan at Sony CSL Paris, as an extension of the playground experiment realized in 2004. .
The student designers who participated to the workshop are : Emmanuele Aoué, Stéphane Barbier-Bouvet, Clément Benoît, Nicolas Besson, Olivier Burgisser, Francis Chabloz, Liliana Garcia Requena, Ian Gonsher,
Thomas Kral, Renaudin Margaux, Benedicte Meynet, Hadji Moloudi, Eric
Morzier, Singal Mösch, Julia Ng Chien Yue, Moro Nicolas, Valerie
Notter, Letissia Perrin,Florian Pittet, Kélik Ridet, Xavier Rui,
Reymond Siméon, Camille Sherrer, Tiffany Tripet, Cécile von Aesch,
Sébastien Wildi, Danielle Wielzynski.
The projects were photographed by Milo Keller.
Remi van Trijp helped editing/translating the texts.
The URBI language was used for rapidly prototyping robotic behaviors during the workshop.
The support of Alexis Georgacopoulos, head of the Industrial Design Department at ECAL, Christophe Guignard, professor at ECAL and Luc Steels, director of Sony Computer Science Laboratory Paris was crucial for the success of this project.
